Modernize what I have
Replace the line being phased out, not every validated endpoint. Move phones, fax, emergency, and site services to SIP while retaining useful on-site copper infrastructure.

A legacy POTS connection may still support a telephone, fax machine, or another analog device with specific call behavior.
The project must identify each dependency, determine whether the device can use FXS access, and validate SIP service before the original line is withdrawn.
Keep a validated analog telephone in service while the external network migrates to SIP
Confirm fax behavior, codec, signaling, and provider suitability before migration
Map devices and numbers in a single office or service location
Sequence line withdrawal and gateway deployment according to each site's schedule
Operator withdrawal dates must be confirmed with an authorized source for the country and service concerned
Check the provider, location, service, and withdrawal schedule
Record the telephone, fax, number, wiring, and call behavior
Validate registration, calls, fax, and failure conditions
Withdraw the old service only after the replacement behavior has been accepted
OpenVox FXS products cover small groups of devices through high-density requirements; model selection follows device type, quantity, and placement
